One of the activities of the Professional Leadership Council of the AAFA is to review the programs of colleges and universities that prepare students to enter the soft goods industry and determine whether or not they merit endorsement.
To qualify, these institutions complete an in-depth comprehensive self-analysis of the competencies they deliver (curriculum package) against a set of requirements established by the Council. The competencies include such areas as textiles, marketing, merchandising, product development, material utilization, spreading, cutting, work measurement, assembly, finishing, technology, costing, production scheduling, quality management, sourcing and MIS.
The curriculum package is reviewed by an appointed group of industry professionals and peers from other schools. To date, 13 schools are endorsed by the AAFA. These programs are among the best of the best for the soft goods industry in North America. To learn more about these programs, check out the links on the Education page.
